"The light you need is there"
Danie began a television production company to pay for university fees. It would have been 30 years that he dedicated himself to partners, his team and the South African Television industry if he did not sell Urban Brew Studios in 2013. Urban Brew Studios was considered the most prolific independent television studios in Africa.
Danie stepped out of corporate life and is following his life-long dream of going on expeditions, as photographer/cameraman, in the high latitudes and in deserts, filming, photographing and writing.
An accomplished photographer, specialising in capturing the spectral domain that lies in the wild polar regions. Delving into what he believes to be his true purpose of expressing life's journey.
ANNA BESTER
As a creative producer and editor, I worked on various television shows, documentaries, and films, applying my skills in video editing, video production, and videography. I enjoy collaborating with talented and diverse teams, contributing to the vision, direction, and quality of the content.
My passion for photography and writing stems from my extensive travels and my education background. I hold a master's degree in documentary arts from the University of Cape Town, where I explored the intersections of philosophy, art, aesthetics, and environmental consciousness in my written and visual works. I also have a bachelor's degree in humanities, specialised in visual culture studies and psychology. My goal is to create and share stories that are interesting, meaningful, and impactful, reflecting on personal experiences and insights related to humanity, nature and landscapes. I also ran my own business as a photographer and graphic designer, working on photo books, photo editing, marketing, and social media management.

“A head full of dreams has no space for fear.”
After 24 years, I stepped away from business to pursue an art career. For inspiration, I travel extensively, usually to adventurous destinations beyond the edge of civilisation.
Quality alone time during the 2020 pandemic allowed me to explore unique themes and techniques of expression. The most notable is “My Dark Materials” consisting of large canvases with acrylic, mixed media in different textures, and multiple layers shaded in black.
I am inspired by natural elements - water, air, wind, and earth. Only light reveals the dark textures, motion and emotion.
This creative process and method are deliberate and slow.
My other work includes:
A playful series: Bird on a Perch. The theme centres around my love for animals: an imaginary bird and a specific dog or animal in each case.
A nature-inspired series: My Point of View. Celebrating a unique geo-position, a fleeting glance through a tree, at sunset or sunrise, of an impressive mountain highlighted by the sun’s golden glow.
Though she has chronic rheumatoid arthritis, her motto remains – "happiness is the action taken to resolve problems."
